Guernsey Household Expenditure Survey
The Policy Council has appointed Island Analysis to carry out the 2012/13 Guernsey Household Expenditure Survey (HES). This Survey is undertaken approximately every five years and involves a representative sample of 1,300 island households. Each household is required to note the amount spent on products and services over a 14 day period as well as listing major items of expenditure incurred over the previous 3 months and on an annual basis. Households will be able to complete the survey online.
The information provided by the survey has a number of functions but its primary use is to ensure that the inflation indices remain relevant and that the prices monitored by the index accurately reflect household purchasing patterns. Inflation is an important economic indicator and is used as the basis for a large proportion of pay settlements, fees, rents and other charge adjustments. The information provided by the survey also has numerous other applications for government and business.
If you live in Guernsey and would like to register your interest in participating in the Survey or if you have received a letter from us inviting you to take part in the survey but are unable to, please contact James Travers on 01481 716227 or at james@islandanalysis.com. All survey responses are anonymous and strictly confidential. (Please state your house name and postcode in your email.)
